Now is the time to check your furnace filter and make sure it has been changed this month and check it on a regular basis. Its just as important to check your filter during the summer as it is during the winter.  A dirty filter will cause reduced airflow coming into your blower compartment from the return air duct, and could cause your A-coil to ice up and reduce airflow into your living area. You may consider installing an Aprilaire  Media filter. This will provide the filtration you need while easing the service interval of filter change outs.

Also, you can use the opportunity of this great Michigan weather, (some high 90 degree days) to test out your central air system. Set the thermostat for cooling, dial down to a low setting and make sure the unit on the outside of the house starts up.  If not, call us today for an early summer start up and check up. You can also refresh your humidifier filter pad by soaking it in a bucket of white vinegar and water overnight, and then rinse it out in the laundry tub. You will be able to extend the pad life by doing this once or twice a season. And with the A/C season upon us, be sure to close the bypass damper on your humidifier and set the humidistat to Off and shut off the water supply if required.
